Pick of the Litter
Directed by Dana Nachman and Don Hardy

The tales of the heroics of dogs are plentiful, but tales of how exactly they got to be heroic are almost non-existent—until "Pick of the Litter." The latest film from Dana Nachman and Don Hardy ("Witch Hunt," "The Human Experiment") follows the birth and maturation of a litter of puppies who are trying to make the cut as guide dogs. Along the way, Nachman and Hardy offer intimate portraits of the caretakers and trainers of the dogs, while giving us a revealing take on  (hu)man's best friend and the rigors, heartaches, and triumphs they  experience in their quest to be the pick of the litter.
