Strong!
Directed by Julie Wyman
Since age 14, Cheryl Haworth has been America’s top Olympic weightlifter, ranked well above all men and women on Team USA. But at 5’ 8” inches and weighing over 300 pounds, she doesn’t easily fit into standard chairs, clothing sizes or pre-conceptions. STRONG! follows Cheryl from the highs of being a hometown hero and a pioneer in a traditionally male sport, through the lows of her Home Depot day job. At the same time, Julie Wyman’s portrait of Cheryl—who is at once celebrated in her sport and shunned by mainstream culture—offers a unique vantage point on body size in American culture.
